Letter to Joseph; Thank you is all I can say for what you have done for your country. Your history is something that I value and wish I was able to learn more. The bravery you have shown is some that only a small number of people have. You will never be forgotten thank you for your service.
Reflection: For the past few months getting to know Joseph Adamonis has brought much attention to the life that a young man would have to live in order to provide for his country. My understanding now of WW2 is the hardship that it had on the individual people who lives got flipped upside down. The people that lived during this time had grown up with the talks of WW1 and the stories. By being drafting into the second war none of the stories could have prepared him for what was going to come. Seeing the life someone had before the war and it changing for the safety and freedom of his country can only give a growing respect for those who took the duty of protecting America. Being able to speak with Joseph would be something that I would be very grateful for. The questions I would want to ask would be more towards his life before getting drafted and what he dealt with leading up to the draft. I would ask questions about him growing up in a small town and about his family. I would ask him about his brothers that went to war with him as well and their relationships. I would want to know him as best as i could as a person who lived a normal American life before the war. Asking questions about how his training was and the men around him would be something I would do along with questions of the time period. Most of all I wish I was able to say thank you. Except I feel as though those two words could never add up for the price he paid for my safety. Gratitude now has the meaning of a longing gratefulness to men like Joseph Adamonis that can never fully be repaid. The most helpful sources were the PDF files, National Archive, and Ancestry for giving a more personal side to Joseph's story.
